Nepenthes Hamakua is hybrid between an intermediate and a lowlander. The Leilani Hapu'u Nursery is beginning to put out their own hybrids now. This particular hybrid of theirs is one of my favorites so far. I like the N. campanulata shape in the pitcher and the striping from the female parent. I hope it keeps this shape but Leilani told me that when it gets older the N. campanulata influence tends to dissipate. It's growing outdoors right now and should do fine until winter. Because of its parentage, this hybrid may stress if temperatures get into the 40's for periods of time. Under intermediate to even lowland climates this hybrid should be an easy and rewarding grower.
