Nepenthes madagascariensis X ventricosa is hybrid between a lowlander and a highlander although I grow the species N. madagascariensis as a highlander. I have two plants that I'm growing. One clone I bought from a grower on Ebay and the other got from Exotica Plants. I had seen this hybrid on the Exotica Plant's website for some time but the plants were unavailable but then became available in 2007. As with many of Exotica Plant's hybrids, they become available as seed grown specimens and then disappear for a while only to appear with limited offerings from cuttings. A photo at Exotica Plant's site shows a darker than the clones I have. I don't know how much variation there is within this hybrid mainly because I haven't seen many other photos of other growers' plants. I grow it outdoors under shade cloth and have found it to be an easy growing hybrid. This isn't a spectacular looking hybrid but is interesting nonetheless because I haven't seen any other hybrids with N. madagascariensis.
